The hauntings at this tunnel surround a man who hanged himself here years ago, and supposedly the hook still protrudes from which he hung his rope. Witnesses have claimed to see his apparition hanging there or wandering around inside the tunnel. Screams have also been reported.

Grew up in Union with best friends in Florence and Ellesmere my buddy Steve and I used to walk from Florence over to Garvey Street every day after school to hang out with our third friend and our shortcut took us through the woods that led to the Allendale tunnel and then up the hill to the other side and the elsemere itself. Every time we would walk through the tunnel, you would get just the most overpowering sense of anxiety and unease like you were just being watched every step and we’re not supposed to be there. However, the last trip I made through that tunnel was on our way back towards my friend‘s house in the early evening near sunset. Steve and I were walking along the tunnel about 10 to 15 feet apart on the narrow ledge to the left side that is elevated above the water track in the center. As we walk down, you would hear the sound of rocks being thrown with no visible source constantly. And during the normal activity, I felt distinct and unstable feeling of two hands press into the middle of my shoulders and shove me forward. I was thrown off balance, tripped, and fell smacked back into the water track below me. Granted the tunnel was in lower light conditions than the surrounding woods, but there was definitely enough light to see that there was only myself and Steve in the tunnel at the time and he was easily 15 feet away from me when I felt the shove and therefore ruled out as a suspect. Always had a bad feeling about that tunnel but after that clear sign of whatever haunt its displeasure haven’t been back since. I am definitely reconsidering that now that I’ve gotten more and more into official paranormal investigations with multiple haunted locations under my belt. This definitely needs to be investigator and a story explored
