This battlefield was the site of the largest Civil War battle in Kentucky, which took place on October 8th, 1862. Over 7,000 people were killed or wounded during the battle and the corpses of the Confederate soldiers were left to rot on the battlefield. Many believe this is why the field has so much paranormal activity. Reports here include solder apparitions, some riding on horseback, and glowing balls of light that have been spotted throughout the field.

Perryville is haunted

I went to perryville in 2023 and got a Confederate flag and I was walking through the Confederate cemetery and then decided to make the Ohio men mad and said the Confederates will beat you Yankees and send you back to Ohio! And felt someone push me down and I said sorry I offended you, they are still fighting like it is 1862, I then put a Confederate flag on one of the graves and said if only your family knows where you are brave men of the south and the Confederate flag fell over, oh I made some Ohio Yankees soldiers mad, I said you better not hurt me now ok, perryville is haunted and felt watched

Many visits, only one experience.

My wife and I usually visit Perryville Battlefield once or twice a week. Usually for pictures of deer and the sunset. We usually park next to a large tree just off the road on Whites rd. One day in December on a visit before sunset, I went for a short walk and I smelled something along the hillside it was only in that one spot. I've been back several times since and have yet to experience it again.

Surprise Visitor

I was driving through the town of Perryville (it was late summer so maybe around 8:15 p.m. to 8:30 p.m.) toward Lebanon around dusk. I came around a sharp curve and saw a young man walkingin the road. He appeared to be in his early 20's or so with dirty blonde hair, wearing light blue/grey pants, dirty ivory or white shirt, what appeared to be suspenders, a slouch hat and carrying a firearm over his left shoulder. I hit my breaks but instantly realized he had no legs. He looked neither left nor right and appeared to not notice me at all. He simply walked straight across the road from left to right and after a few steps totally disappeared. I continued on my way and told my family what I had witnessed as soon as I arrived home.
Several years later I visited the battlefield with my husband and stopped to take photos with my cell phone (this was an unplanned, impromptu visit so I did not have my regular digital camera with me). I stepped out of the car and before I had a chance to hit the button, my camera took a series of photographs. I laughed it off and began to drive to another location. I reviewed the photos but they revealed only a set of 33 photos of the landscape. No ghosts unfortunately. We stopped again and as before my phone began clicking before I could push the button. I once again returned to my car and examined the photos. Again, nothing but trees. My husband and I were laughing but I happened to notice that again there were exactly 33 photographs! We flipped through the pictures and all at once a message popped up that BOTH sets of photographs had been deleted.
I haven't had the opportunity to revisit but am in the process of planning a visit for this summer to include a tour of the museum. I am hoping to be able to stay in a local B & B to allow me more time to visit and explore.

Not sure what it was exactly

I walked the battlefield June 25 th by myself . There was a certain part of the battlefield where I could have sworn someone was walking behind me or running up to me. It actually made me jump a few times. I actually thought there was some animal and had me a little scared. At one point it made me jump and I whirled around had said “ Really!?” I’m not sure what it was exactly. I just never seen anything.
