Upon looking at eerie reviews online, myself and others accompanying me already felt a sense of uneasiness at arrival. All seemed to be as normal until we awoke right around 12:30 in the morning to banging and screaming coming from the room beside ours. After just around half an hour of trying to fall back asleep, I heard something else coming from outside our door. A faint voice from behind the door saying “get out” over and over. Until it seemed to fade away. As if we weren’t freaked out enough we later saw a frail woman at the front desk that morning. She was wearing an aged yellow trench coat, yelling at the front desk clerk claiming she lived in our room. Even claiming she knew my Mom, calling her by her full name. Something is definitely not right about that place, will never be going back.

Lady in Yellow Trench Coat
I am on a team trip and we are staying in the cambell house. One of my teammates rooms is across the hallway from ours, and there was a lady in a yellow trenchcoat staring into their door. She was later spotted at the front desk claiming she lived in that room. She was saying she left her stuff in there, and she also knew the name of the person whose room it was.

Creepy and Eerie feelings - definitly haunted
I did not experience any haunting experiences. Although it was strange that our room was in the very back not next to anyone else staying there. Long hallways and repetitive creepy feelings. Knowing the haunted stories when staying there, it took me a while to fall asleep. I had heard that a woman had died there. There had been reports of ice machines turning on and kids running down the hall calling each other. And scariest of all, a man in “butler clothes” or dark black clothes wandering around the hotel. I don’t recall any haunting experiences, but I can just envision waking up seeing that tall dark man staring down at me. Definitly a haunted hotel for sure.
Posted 12/24/23Yes, it really is haunted
We stayed there in 2009. Doors slamming at 3:30 am for 20 minutes. No one staying on our hall. Ice maker kicking out ice but no one there. Shadow going by our door. It's scary but we hope to go back one day.
Posted 9/22/23Hmm Maybe but lovely place!
I don't logically believe in ghosts but when I was a flight attendant, our airline would put us up here. Place is beautiful, staff is accommodating. However, even though I don't logically believe in ghosts. Somewhere I have a "What If' in me that makes me scared if I am by myself and obviously airlines give us our own rooms. I didn't see or hear anything all the times I was there BUT this is the only place I have had sleep paralysis in my life and it was that scary kind. I heard a low voice laughing at me and pulling the covers over me but I knew I was "asleep" or in paralysis. Then I woke up at 5am for my returning flight lol

I was never a believer in haunted places but I did experience a few things and know some history of the building. Kilbern, a previous owner, is the tall man you see walking the halls. You never get a good look at him, just appears out the corner of your eye and tends to walk around corners when you see him. After the renovation back in 2014, I’d see him walk across the catwalk over the lobby or towards the North side of the building. Usually at night. Tall man, dressed in black with a hat. Never seen a woman but she did whisper “help me” when I was working on a few things in the basement one afternoon. Sounded like she was behind me but nothing was there. Creeped me out but I’d known the place was haunted so I brushed it off. The basement in the early years of the hotel had locker rooms and showers. Also known as a place to take escorts. 3rd floor was always a bit spooky. Never saw anything but the air was thick and a sense of unease always overcame me in a certain wing. I spent many nights here and never experienced slamming doors, child noises or moving objects. Other staff have their stories. If you get a chance to speak with a tenured staff member, ask about the old children’s suite prior to the 2014 renovation, creepy room that was never touched or rented for many, many years.

Caught the vibes only
I was here for a conference and literally had no idea it is suspected to be haunted (I wouldn’t have agreed to stay here if I knew). However, as soon as we got our keys and were walking down the halls, I caught a vibe and told my friend in passing “this place is haunted.” She didn’t believe me, and we didn’t take the time to look into it in the rush of the conference. Lo and behold, on the day we check out, we hear some other conference goers talking about it, and I find this website. No paranormal experience for me, but sometimes you can just feel it places. Glad I didn’t know until now ?? but it’s a really nice place for a conference!!!

It is haunted
My husband and I stayed at The Campbell House in October of 2009. We stayed 3 nights. We were there for the fall race meet at Keeneland. For whatever reason, they put us in a room on the 2nd floor in the very back of the hotel. It is a huge hotel. Our hallway was a long hallway. The entire time we stayed, we never saw any other people on that hall. Other guests were staying in rooms up near the front of the hotel. It's a beautiful place, good food, nice bar. Anyway on the third night, or should I say morning, at 3 o'clock iin the morning, we were awakened by the sound of loud slamming doors. Over and over and this went on for about 20 minutes. We didn't get up to look out the door. Then, about 10 minutes later, we heard the ice machine near our room being used. I then got up and looked out in the hall. No one there. Weird. So, next morning at breakfast in the hotel dining room, we were telling our waitress about it. She said "that makes the hair on the back of my neck stand up.". She proceeded to tell us about coming in early one morning at 5am to get the coffee started and she noticed a tall man, dressed in Victorian clothes walking briskly through the dining room. He didn't look at her. She thought it strange so she went to ask the desk clerk if he had seen the man. He said no. Then we find out later that the place is haunted. A woman was murdered there.

Beautiful Hotel but Definitely Haunted
In 2018 drove from Florida to attend the keeneland sale in September. After the long drive I asked a frisky to book my. Family rate a Hilton Hotel in Lexington. She booked the The Campbell House for. I parked my truck and looked up the hotel on TripAdvisor and saw Couple of reviews stating it’s haunted. So it was not a good start and I was on Gaurd Already. Very nice staff when I checked in. It was around 5 o clock pm. I turned the lamp next to the tv on and below with a fire flame and smoke. Smelled burning. Called the front desk they said they will send Maintenance to fix it. I was so tired so I laid on the bed. Turned the tv on. It won’t come on. Call the front desk again and told to fix the tv also. I laid on the bed again and after about 5 minutes tv came on by it self and right after that lamp that blew came on. I walked to it and checked it and it look good. I called the front desk and canceled the repair order. At this time I knew the lamp incident is not normal so I jumped in the shower. I was so tired I fell asleep. Woke up around 11:30 pm. I was si hungry . Called the front desk for options they told me no one will deliver at this time and they don’t have an food at the hotel for sale. I asked where the vending machine is. They agent said walk down the hall and it is all the way at the end on the right. I walked down the hall pass their meeting or banquet halls. They were all dark. I was the only one there. Found the vending machine. Bought snacks and drinks and right when I grabbed them from the bin the ice machine next to the vending machine started to dispense ice. There was a big plastic container placed under the machine to catch the ice. I walked back to my room. I went back to sleep. Around 3:30am I woke up hearing little kids running the hallway and calling each other. Let’s go we are going to be late. Come on let’s go. I was curious. I opened the door and no one was there. Close the door heard the same noise again of kids running down the hall and calling each other. Next day I had breakfast in their restaurant. I have read in the reviews that some have witnessed a man waking in the restaurant and seen a lady walk down the stairs. Did not experienced that. One the way out i met a doorman. He asked me how my stay was I told him very good. I told him I love the hotel especially the wood in the lobby. He said the hotel has been renovated but there is a basement in the hotel that has not been touched and next time I come there he will give me a tour there. He said it’s a closed section of the hotel and no one is allowed to go there but he is will be able to take me there and show it to me. Off course I never went back

I don’t know what I saw
I’m staying here because I’m working at hotel next door but me and the person I’m rooming wit just had the lamp between our beds start buzzing and flickering and I saw something darkly zoom past the foot of my bed and go past his bed but when I jumped up and looked there was nothing there but I told my wife on phone what happened and she tells me about the haunted stuff that’s happening here ,so hopefully I get a little sleep tonight now that I know this
Posted 6/30/21I'm looking forward to knowing more about this place
The lid on the ice bucket slammed down. I was laying here in the dark watching TV. I've only been here for a couple of hours and I don't know anything about the history of this place. I'm definitely going to ask tomorrow. Hopefully the rest of my night will be quiet. That ice bucket and tray might end up in the hallway tonight lol.

Yes it's haunted
Husband and I stayed there in October 2009. We were on 2nd floor in the very back hall. No one else was staying on our long hallway. We wondered why they put us back there. I'm out last night there, we were awakened at 3:30 in the morning by the sound of loud doors slamming, over and over. This went on for 20+ minutes. We didn't understand because tree was no one staying on our hall. Finally, I jumped up and looked out into the hall. Nothing. No one. Next morning, we are breakfast in the hotel restaurant. I told the waitress about what happened. She said it made the hairs stand up on the of of her neck. She then proceeded to tell me about her experience there. One morning, she came in very early to set up for breakfast. It was 5:30 am. She saw a man, dressed in turn of the century clothes, walking through the restaurant. He didn't seem to see her. She thought it was strange, so she went to see where he went. He vanished. The front desk clerk didn't see him come by. When we got home, we found out that ghost hunters had been to that hotel to investigate. There had been 2 murders long ago. It is haunted.

Quaint
Quaint hotel lots of character only 2nd time that I’ve stayed the first time I stayed I did have an experience But nothing to really scare me would love to stay there for a longer period of time
Posted 11/8/19I love this hotel
The front of the hotel is very inviting. There is a beautiful sitting area outside as you pull up to the front entrance. Very nice comfortable chairs to lounge in and have a drink. Beautiful lobby and restaurant where the breakfast is very good. I can't attest to any other meal because I haven't had it. The rooms are all very spacious with a comfortable couch, large desk, refrigerator and microwave, just a beautiful hotel all the way around.
